Hotels in Cambridge and vicinity

A picture named generalGeorgeWashington.jpgOne of the reasons we were concerned about having BloggerCon on April 17 is with the Boston Marathon just two days later, hotels might have been a problem.

We called a couple of premium hotels near the law school, the Charles and Sheraton Commander, and they still have rooms for the weekend, although they both say they'll sell out soon.

If money isn't an object, I'd stay at the Charles, a beautiful hotel with all the amenities, central location in Harvard Square, and free high-speed Internet in the rooms. It's a ten minute walk from the law school campus.

A picture named commander.jpgEven closer and less expensive is the Sheraton Commander on Garden Street across the Cambridge Commons. It's in a historic revolutionary location, where General George Washington took command of the Continental Army in 1775. Many years later JFK announced his candidacy for Congress at the Commander.

And if you're on a budget, and who isn't, here's an Expedia query for hotels in and around Cambridge on April 16 and 17, assuming you want to stay over and enjoy what's likely to be a very fine New England spring weekend. (Fingers crossed.)
