For the first two BloggerCons we went through this dance:

1. We announce a date.

2. People tell us why it's the wrong date.

3. We chose another date.

4. Go to 2.

Eventually we break out of the loop, and some people can't make it. It's a fact, there are more conferences than there are weekends for us to schedule one. Holidays get in the way too. So accept as inevitable that some people won't be able to come because of scheduling. Picking the date is an art, but it helps to have data.

What events are happening in October and November 2004, on the west coast, that would appeal to the kind of people who would come to BloggerCon? What holidays are there? If we can get a good list perhaps we can avoid at least part of the dance this time.
