RFC: Art Interludes at BloggerCon

A picture named chineseDavosArt.jpgI'm thinking of borrowing an idea from Davos, where they had, for the opening lunch the year I was there, two Chinese artists doing a huge mural on a stage while we all ate lunch. It probably meant something different to everyone, that's how art works. To me it said bring your creativity to this conference. It also said our canvas is large. And because they were Chinese that this is strange. I'd like to do something similar, on a less grand scale, but no less inspiring. So I wonder if there are art communities using weblogs who could do something interesting or revolutionary with our space.

Examples

A few examples of projects that could be presented, more are welcome.

1. Xeni Jardin has a weblog of SARS art, part of the Boing Boing weblog (a group blog, her insight on that would be interesting as well).

2. Heather Champ has the Mirror Project, where she collects pictures of people taking their own pictures in reflective surfaces. Wonderful stuff.

3. East Broadway Ron's annotated photo tours through New York City.

4. Chris Heilman's photos of the stars, Los Angeles, his wine-making experiments.

5. Joe Jennett's designs. Bryan Bell. Jeffrey Zeldman. Derek Powazek.

These are just some ideas. Each would be presented in some way to be discussed with the artist, 5 minutes each, after we come back from a break, to warm the audience up, quiet them down, to inspire and encourage big thinking.
