BloggerCon II Weblog - Celebrating the art and science of weblogs, April 17 at Harvard Law School.

Infrastructure

When:October 5, 1:30PM
Where:Pound 204
Discussion leader: Andrew Grumet
Who attends:Bloggers of all experience levels, developers of weblog infrastructure, people who want to understand how all the infrastructure tools relate.
Description:The weblog world offers a vast and growing array of tools for finding the new and most popular stuff, but what does it all mean, and how do they work? How does Blogdex compare to Daypop and Technorati? What does it mean to "ping" weblogs.com? What is Trackback? What do you do when your server goes down? How does Movable Type compare to Blogger, TypePad, Manila, Radio UserLand? How do desktop editors work? (Demos.) How do centralized aggregators compare to desktop aggregators? Who pays for all this stuff? The purpose of this session is to look under the covers, to explain in plain English, how all the infrastructure works, to demystify the technology.
